As our U15 players head into the new season, the Rep players are also entering into their first year of body checking.  Although this is new, being prepared for how the game will change with body checking is an important and necessary step for our players.  It is mandated by the OMHA that all players who enter into their body checking year commit to a body checking clinic hosted by the organization.  This year, we will have two days of body checking for our players, it is important that players make it to both clinic sessions as the second session will build off of the first. Players will be given the opportunity to learn the basics of the form to deliver and receive a body check, feel the body checking motion in a controlled and safe way, learn the purpose of body checking in a game and engage in some situations in which a body check is the appropriate action for the play.  Although it is mandatory that our U15 Rep players have the clinic prior to playing in games, it is also an advantage for our local league players to come to this clinic as we will learn body position and body contact techniques and players on the local league team could be involved in body checking in the future (possibly on the rep team in the future or maybe as an affiliate to the Rep team).
