South Grey Spartans Registration 2020-2021

Welcome to South Grey Minor Hockey!! We are excited to see what this season brings with our newly amalgamated centre and we hope everyone can share this positive outlook with our newly appointed South Grey Minor Hockey Executive. As an executive, we would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to our members for your patience as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time. This season will definitely look a little different than it has in the past, not only because we are a newly amalgamated group, but also because of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has put on the structure of minor hockey in this upcoming season. Please keep in mind that this situation is fluid as the rules may change as per the OHF, OMHA and our local Public Health Unit. We are prepared to keep up to date with the changing protocols so we can provide a challenging, fun and safe hockey season for all. Please review this article from the OMHA CLICK HERE for information about the current (stage 3B) of the return to hockey framework that we are using to plan the initial stages of our season.

At this point, South Grey Minor Hockey is planning to provide a minimum of 2 ice times per week for each division, with the first few weeks of the season focused solely on skills and development.. After that, we plan to have one practice per week and one modified in house 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 (based on registration numbers) officiated/sanctioned game play within each division. The season starting in January may evolve to a more regular looking hockey season, however, this will depend on many factors outside of the control of South Grey Minor Hockey. The start of our ice time is unknown at this time as the Municipalities of Southgate and Grey Highlands work through when they are able to put ice in. We will continue to monitor the situation and adapt, as possible.

To register

Step 1. Log on to the Hockey Canada website using your ehockey login that you have used for online programs in the past (ie. Respect in Sport) or if you have not registered before, please choose ‘create account’. Follow the prompts and be sure to choose the proper division for your player. When you get to the online registration checkout, please choose payment method as “other” – the system is not set up to receive payments through the registration website at this time.

Step 2. Send payment. SGMHA is splitting the registration fee for the season in half, as we recognize the uncertainty of the season ahead. When you “checkout” online, the fee for the division you choose will be for the entire 2020-2021 season. Please refer to the payment schedule below for payment installment details. Once the registration is complete, you will have to sign onto your personal online banking and send an e-transfer for the registration fees to [email protected]. If a security question and answer is required, the password should be “hockey”. Please include your player(s) name (who you are paying the registration for) in the message section of the e transfer.

Step 3. If you are registering a player for the first time, you will be required to complete an online program called Respect in Sport Parent Program CLICK HERE, which defines a standard of behavior for parents within minor hockey in Canada and creates a more rewarding, safe and respectful environment for everyone involved.  Your child cannot be placed on a team until this program has been completed.  If you have done this program previously, you are not required to do it again.

Step 4. Keep up to date with fundraiser info, reminders and payment due dates by following South Grey Minor Hockey online on our Facebook page CLICK HERE or keep checking our website CLICK HERE!!
